Wishing Spring Art Gallery a truly
valuable asset to the shopper, the artist and the

It is the first place many in the area think of when
they are looking for that perfect gift for friends or
loved ones. To
better reflect this, the gallery has adopted a new

A BIT OF GALLERY HISTORY
Metamorphosis
- a
transformation. More then a transformation, it's a coming into being of something new
and often wonderful!
In
1982 the Village Art Club entered into a lease agreement
with Cooper Communities to lease an old native oak and
stone barn. The barn, located on County Road 40,
just a couple blocks east of Hwy 71 (behind the new Walgreen's
Pharmacy), had a long and varied
history. Originally built in 1941, it began life as
a dairy barn, and through the years was used to house
not only cattle, but also buffalo.

The metamorphosis
from neglected cattle barn to Wishing Spring Gallery
was not an easy one. Two years, a goodly amount of
finance (much of it donated), and countless hours of
labor by visionary dedicated volunteers, helped the old
barn complete it's new birth! Today, in place of
livestock and farm equipment, this graceful old barn
houses fine arts and crafts created with loving detail
by member's of the Village Art Club.
The
Gallery is open to the public from Mid-March through
Mid-December. Artists who exhibit at the gallery
are active members of The Village Art Club and give of
their time to man the Gallery during open hours.
Artists who exhibit their work for sale at the Gallery must meet special standards and qualifications, assuring
the quality of the fine arts and crafts exhibited at the
Gallery, as well as commitment of the participants to
the Village Art Club.
In
1999 the Cooper family made a generous donation of the
Gallery and surrounding five acres to the Village Art Club.
We
welcome you to the Gallery. We are
proud of the transformation that took place in the old
barn, thanks to the hard work of forward looking
volunteers. We are even more proud of the quality of
work offered to the public by the exhibiting
artists!
See
you at the Gallery!
