APRIL brought a good dose of rain, and with it, problems for some, but Bella Vista, as a whole, faired well.  MAY promises to be full of beauty, however, because April showers do, indeed, bring May flowers!

WHAT'S HAPPENING AT
Wishing Spring Gallery?

WISHING SPRING GALLERY IS HAVING
AN IMPROMPTU ART AND CRAFT SHOW!

To take advantage of the traffic that will be flowing past the Gallery, thanks to the Spanker Creek Arts and Craft's show, Gallery Director, Deidre, came up with the great idea to put together a Wishing Spring Gallery Art and Craft show incorporating both the Gallery and the Studio behind the gallery.  Deidre has been hard at work putting the show together and this Friday and Sat, May 2 and 3, the doors will open at 9:00 (as opposed to regular gallery hours of 10:00).

Lots of new things to see, so be sure to be there to support Village Art Club's Wishing Spring Gallery!

WHAT'S HAPPENING AT
 Gallery West at Highlands Crossing?

THANK YOU
to the new co directors of Gallery West

Sally Scott
Bev Wescott
Pat McCartney

A huge THANK YOU to Sally, Bev and Pat for stepping forward and taking on responsibility for Gallery West.

A new exhibition will be going up May 1st and will last through July!  If you get a chance be sure to stop by our "other" Gallery, at the Highlands Crossing, located at the Southeast corner of the intersection of Highway 340 (Lanshire Blvd) and Forest Hills Blvd near the Highland's Entry.

Hours at Gallery West are 8-5 on weekdays and Saturday morning.

And a special Thank You to Nadine Mong for her past leadership.  Nadine was devoted to Gallery West, and it showed in the smooth operations and fine works that were displayed each quarter.

INTERESTED IN PAINTING?

Every Tuesday is free painting day at the Studio behind the Gallery (except for meeting Tuesdays). Bring your gear and a lunch and join us!  It's always fun and often productive!  Member Master Artist's Jack Hetterich, Fred Betz, and often Rudy Aguirre are on hand to share their expertise with any who ask!

There is also a Paint on Your Own group that gathers at 8:30 on Friday mornings at Riordan Hall.  If you would like more information about this painting opportunities feel free to contact member Juanita Reed.  There are also 2 different paint classes on Wednesday mornings at 8:30 at Riordan Hall for those wishing to take lessons from an instructor.

All are welcome, beginners and experienced artists alike!

Village Art Club
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

A great way to show your pride in your Village Art Club by volunteering!

We still have some great ways for you to show your support for the Art Club in 2008!  The following volunteer positions are still open!

1. Publicity Director - Help get the word out about what's happening with the Village Art Club, the Studio, The Art Gallery.  You'll be provided with contact information for all the major outlets and this will give you a great excuse to get yourself well known among those who report the news!  Could be fun and you'll get to be on the executive committee and come to the art club board meetings.  It's great to be in the "inner circle"...you get to vote on important issues and make a difference!

2. Workshop Director (help schedule artists and craftsman to hold workshops at the Studio available to members and the public alike).  This position is also puts you on the executive committee allowing you to come to the art club board meetings.  It's great to be in the "inner circle"...you also get to vote for the good stuff and make a difference!

3. Hospitality - This is one of the easiest volunteer positions the art club has, and a very rewarding one!  All you do come early on club days and make the coffee and set up the cookies that other's agree to make! Everyone will love you since the one who provides food and drink is always appreciated!  This is also a great position to share with a friend (friends).  You can alternate meetings or work together on each meeting!

ALWAYS TO REMEMBER TO CHECK WHAT'S
HAPPENING AT CRYSTAL BRIDGES

www.crystalbridges.com

AND CRYSTAL BRIDGES AT THE MASSEY!

http://massey.crystalbridges.org/

It's not every day, year, or even even at all, that a museum of the caliber of Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art is built in your own backyard so you might want to keep abreast of their progress!

In the meantime, Crystal Bridges at the Massey (on the Bentonville Square where the old library used to be) is hosting visiting artists, exhibits, free classes and more!  A few of our members recently participated in a couple of the classes held by visiting wildlife artist, Susan Morrison from Eureka Springs,  and had nothing but good to say about their experiences!

VILLAGE ART CLUB MEMBER'S PRIDE

If you or any art club member that you know has recently won an award or should otherwise be recognized for their achievements, artistic or otherwise, please email dustie@dustie.com  !  Don't be afraid of blowing your own horn!  We all know that, as artists  and crafters we have to be proud of our accomplishments and share that pride if we expect to achieve the recognition we need for success!  So let us all know about it so that we can, as a club, show our pride in those accomplishments too!
